Trailer Park Lounge – NYC

After lunch at Adrienne’s Pizzabar, we took a taxi up to Chelsea Market at 16th street for some shopping and then walking around in the rain.  As we headed back up town, towards Times Square, I began working up a burger appetite.  I consulted the Hamburger America app and found that there were two choices that were (kind of) on the way back to the hotel, Rub BBQ (where they apparently have a great burger, but only on Monday nights) and the Trailer Park Lounge.  After reading the description of the Trailer Park, it sounded so interesting that I couldn’t resist and we turned west on 23rd.

Walking in through the screen door, this was the view:

Three thirty on a rainy Saturday afternoon and there’s a guy sitting at the bar with a Stetson and a knock-off Nudie suit with an assortment of hippies and hipsters.  We chose a table in the back, near the kitchen, past the part of the trailer attached to the wall, across from the bar (here’s that view toward the front)

There were folks at four or five other tables (it was fairly empty) and everyone was being served by the bartender, who was serving on expedition – table-by-table.  The menu wasn’t broad, and they definitely were “New York” prices

We started with a couple of Diet Cokes, which when they came to the table were awful – the soda water:syrup mix was off.  We told the waitress and she tried again.  Hopelessly off. Then we tried to order root beers, only to find that they were out.

My beloved wasn’t terribly hungry, so I ordered a cheeseburger

with tater tots. Between us, we managed to put away a majority of the tots.

The burger was good, but nothing worth writing home about.  Yet I felt compelled to write about it anyway…
