While at the Walnut Valley Festival this week, when day time temps were heading toward 100, we took a trip to Wichita one morning. For my beloved, it was a chance to hit a few thrift stores. For me, it was a chance for barbecue. Every recommendation I could find said we needed to go to Station 8. They are open Wednesday- Saturday, 11:00 – 2:00. We arrived about 1:30 and they were running low on meats.

We chose to split a three meat combo, with a couple of sides (of which I failed to capture a photo), with brisket, ribs and burnt ends.

Located inside a repurposed fire station, the meats were appropriately smoked <g> The brisket was moist and tender and the burnt ends were lovely. The sides, which were likely slaw and baked beans, were well received by my tray mate.

Is this Wichita, Kansas, rather than Oklahoma?
Yep – I’m an idiot.. Thanks for letting me know. I’ve updated.
