Out and about on a Saturday, and looking for something to eat that a) was near where we were going and b) fit a mutually agreed upon spot for lunch. The place we were heading was Chamblee. This was easy for food – there are literally dozens, if not scores of options. Mutually agreed upon can be more challenging: today’s criteria, no barbecue, no fried foods, not heavy on carbs. So in looking for something that fit that bill, I found SabaRaba’s. Their tagline says it all – falafel and schwarma, with a side of good karma.

An Israeli fast casual place in a new development just off PIB, at Chamblee-Dunwoody, we parked in a covered lot behind and walked into the sunlit restaurant. The menu was above the counter and the sweet woman at the counter said “there are menus here on the counter, so you don’t have to strain your necks.”
My beloved chose the chicken schwarma plate, with hummus, pita and an Israeli salad of cucumber, tomato, vinegar and citrus. She also ordered the mushroom tahini pita, which was the daily special.

The schwarma was excellent (she shared a few bites) and the serving was bountiful. I had the same hummus which was a perfect consistency and delicious. I ordered the steak kabob meal,

and picked up some of the harissa ketchup from the counter. Proteins are available as plates (deconstructed gyros), flatbreads or laffas (which looks very much like a burrito), gyros, saladsor harissa rise bowls. You can’t complain about a lack of options….
The food was very fresh and the staff was gracious. There is also a location in Sandy Springs, if you’re needing good karma and schwarma in that area.
