Pizza by Yandy’s – Sandy Springs, GA

The first visit to Pizza by Yandy’s was a fail – we walked into Carniceria Los Pinos, where their pizza stall lives, on a Sunday afternoon and were greeted with “the pizza place is closed on Sundays”. I wished I’d thought to counter, “that’s okay. Where’s the masa?”, but I wasn’t thinking quick enough.

So the next week, when I had an appointment near Perimeter Mall, I left an intentional 45 minute cushion in my day, to get there. What I didn’t account for was Yandy’s recent appearance on Dave Portnoy’s Barstool Pizza Reviews on IG where it had garnered sixty-five thousand plus views. Needless to say, it was a bit crowded.

I ordered a meat lovers to go and watched

and waited for my number to be called. I saw my dough tossed and thrown into the oven.

And when my number was called, unable to find a table inside, headed to the car and opened the box…

Not my favorite way to dine, but that didn’t stop me from eating four slices.

The crust was crispy enough not to have to double over to hold and eat and the meat mix was generously spread across the pie. It was a really good New York style pizza; I’m more of a Neapolitan- (then Detroit-) style guy, but I’d definitely order it again
