Barbecue Hut – Fayetteville, NC

In anticipation of looking for North Carolina barbecue near our daughter’s new hometown in metropolitan Fayetteville, I was striking out finding anything close.   I “asked the Oracle”,  twice, queried the Barbecue Brothers for suggestions and consulted Google.  Both provided a couple of references, but nothing that cried out “eat here” with any authority.   Yelp led us to the Barbecue Hut, which has two locations, guiding us to this as the better of the two locations, as they smoke all of the meat here.

This was the first of two barbecue places this weekend we visited that had the restrooms located outside the restaurant.   That just seems odd.

My lovely wife ordered the fried flounder. When I went to pick it up, I remarked “that’s the whole fish!”

“Except for the hay-udd” was the counter person’s reply.

The menu was limited as you would expect in a building that size – fried chicken (except they were completely out of white meat), fried fish, pork and sides.

And I saw the drink cooler by the counter and grabbed a small cup of banana pudding
