Stop number one on the Eclipse barbecue scramble was A&R Bar-B-Q on Elvis Presley Blvd. Located on the end of a strip mall in an unassuming storefront, you’re confronted with the counter as soon as you walk in. The first thing I noticed was the happy hour frozen drink specials. This is a ‘cue place that’s ready to party!

I had heard good things about their Memphis-style (crunchy slaw on the sandwich) pork sandwich and their rib sandwich. But I also wanted to try the bbq spaghetti. So I did the only logical thing – I ordered the bbq spaghetti

and the rib sandwich.

1) I should have thought to order the ribs dry. The sweet sauce was good but I went thru a stack of napkins.

2) the ribs were very good. But not great.

3) the bbq spaghetti is just spaghetti with barbecue sauce on it. And no discernible meat – but plenty of tomatoes. But $11.99 for noodles, green beans and mac n cheese (that probably cost less the $3.00) was a little ridiculous.

Somehow this place made #10 on the Southern Living 2019 Top 50 Barbecue. They must have had the pork sandwich.
