A couple of weeks back, one of my co-workers went to the new location of Which Wich? which had opened semi-behind our office. He had said that the sandwich was good and he was really impressed with how they made the sandwich. I had stopped by to try it last week and the line was out the door. I took that as a good sign. Today, when I went back, a little later than my usual lunch time, the line looked reasonable, so I parked and went in to give it a try.
Conceptually, it’ simple. You pick your sandwich (turkey, ham & pork, beef, chicken, seafood, vegetarian, italian, classics or comforts) then work your way across the bag by checking all of the boxes to choose your bread, toppings and condiments. You then write your name on the bag and give it to the clerk at the register. They then make the sandwich (as you request), put it back into the bag you filled out and return it to you by calling the name you wrote on the bag.
A while later, my name was called and I picked up the sandwich, just as I ordered it. Honestly, the process is amazing. I went with a toasted turkey and ham with cheddar, spinach and tomatoes. The sandwich was very good.
Two things:
The sandwich was a little more pricey than the competition – it came in at $9.00 and change.
If they would serve fries, instead of chips, they’d move up closed to my favorite sandwich place near the office.
