I saw, several months back that Curly’s Fried Chicken had appeared on the site of the defunct Leroy’s Fried Chicken on Howell Mill. One Saturday while we were roaming around the city, I decided to grab some carry-out for dinner before we headed back to the suburbs.
The first thing I noticed when I walked up the window was that the mood was very different from when it was Leroy’s. I noticed the change from the moment I ordered when the young lady that took my order turned and asked a question that began with “Daddy?”
After ordering they told me that it would be about ten minutes and, since it was chilly, we waited in the car. After about eight minutes, they flagged me down and I grabbed the bag and we hit the highway. About twenty-five minutes later we got to the house and I opened the bag.I was pleasantly surprised by how good the chicken was at Curly’s. Moist and tender. Much better than when it was Leroy’s.
